Chapter 17: The Weaponsmith

Bayonetta, Jeanne, and Rodin are at the cabin.

Jeanne watched you sleeping on her lap as Bayonetta and Rodin talked to each other.

Rodin: "So this is where you've been hiding out, huh, Bayonetta?"

Bayonetta: "I thought it would be nice to have my own place."

You woke up from your nap.

"Mom?"

Jeanne rubbed your head.

Jeanne: "It's Jeanne, Y/N."

"Where is Mom?"

Jeanne: "She's talking with Rodin. He's the one that carried your weapon back."

Rodin held up your Holy Glaive.

Rodin: "This is a finely crafted weapon. It seems to have been perfectly preserved in that case you found."

"Yeah, I guess so."

Bayonetta: "How are you doing?"

"I'm doing okay. I passed out again, didn't I?"

Rodin: "Well, you did use a skill that only an experienced Lumen Sage can use. Impressive as it is, it's going to have drawbacks."

Bayonetta: "What did that thing say to you?"

"They said 'The Lumen Sage's experiment actually worked.' They called me a 'child with the memories of a Lumen'. What did they mean?"

Rodin put the case on the counter.

Bayonetta: "Be careful, Rodin, I paid a lot of money for that counter."

Rodin: "This case had an enchantment on it. A special one. It transfers the memories of a Lumen Sage onto it and grants them to whoever's worthy of it. Looks like you were the one."

"A shame my village didn't meet those requirements," you said sadly.

Rodin: "I heard about that. I honestly can't say I have any opinion of that. Although the state of that village was enough to cause any town around it to be cautious for a while."

"Mom, is the man that sent you your guns?" you asked.

Bayonetta: "The one and only."

"It's really cool that a human can make those weapons for you."

Rodin chuckled.

Rodin: "Actually, I'm not a human. I used to be part of Paradiso until I got kicked out. Now I just want to see how my weapons do in someone else's hands."

"So, you're a fallen angel?"

Rodin: "I'm technically a Demon, but that's pretty accurate."

You walked up to the Lumen Sage case. Bayonetta held you back.

Bayonetta: "Easy, Y/N. You need to rest."

Rodin: "She's right, kid. No need to act tough."

"I still have to train tho. I'm not done yet."

Rodin: "Just take it easy. You could use a break."

"What are you going to do with those?"

Rodin: "I'm borrowing these for a bit. I'm gonna work on a way to make sure you can summon these instead of having to carry them all the time."

Rodin picked up the case.

Rodin: "I'll give these back, don't worry."

Rodin went through a portal and disappeared.

"Mom, how long have you known Rodin?"

Bayonetta: "Long enough. He's good at making weapons and just as good at making drinks."

"When will he give me my weapon and uniform back?"

Jeanne: "He'll give him back when he's finished. I found out the hard way that you have to be patient. He delivers on his word. Don't worry."

Bayonetta crouched down to you.

Bayonetta: "You fought with all your strength."

Bayonetta puts her hand on your cheek.

Bayonetta: "I'm so proud of you. Now get some rest. You really need it."

"Right. Night, Mom. Night, Aunt Jeanne."

Bayonetta and Jeanne said good night to you as you go to your room.

Jeanne: "Looks like the black sheep of his village was ultimately the only one worthy of those memories."

Bayonetta: "It's hard to believe that he was so happy living with me. Now he's working hard to help protect me."

Jeanne: "You've adopted a very loving son, Cereza."

Bayonetta smiled.

Bayonetta: "Indeed I did. I got very lucky."

Jeanne: "I also heard from Enzo that at the last job you took, you didn't wreck his car."

Bayonetta: "I guess I just felt the need to be responsible. After all, I am a mother."

Jeanne: "I've got to go. See you soon, Cereza."

Bayonetta: "You too, Jeanne."

Bayonetta went into your room and saw you sleeping. She kissed you on the head.

Bayonetta: "Rest up, my son."
