Hunting Trip
N: When they had arrived home, Johann and Rowen were in the living room, along with a now awake MC, and the Mandorian immediately spotted his daughter and stretched out his arms to embrace her.
However, when Niko asked about his father, Johann advised that the boy not see him, wanting the boy to not see the terrible state Wolfgang was in.
"You've been busy," he chuckled as he held Ella, "MC tells me that Poldara took you to the local school. How did you find it?"
"We had a great day," Helena replied excitedly, "we met two people who were really nice. One was called Sara, just like Grandmama, and the other was called Zack, and he said that I was pretty." She kept on going about what they did, until she finally said, "oh yeah, and you're famous too."
"Huh," Johann wondered, and when Poldara explained about the tv series and the figurines, he frowned, "so, you're telling me and Wolfe to live out our life, but anyone could figure out who we are from a glance?"
M: Poldara shrugged, "Probably not, yes they may notice the similarity, but no modern human in their right mind would automatically assume you are centuries old, much less actually point it out, I think you'll be fine. Not to mention it's supposed to be a kids' show."
"Well I think it's nice that you guys get to be remembered in such a way," Rowen said, "I kind of want to see this 'tv series' I wonder what kind of adventures you guys get up to in it."
"Well, only one way to find out," MC stated, walking over to the couch and picking up the remote, "I don't think anyone else has got plans today, why not indulge ourselves in animated fantasy."
N: "Sure," Johann nodded as he and Helena sat down on the sofa to watch, and eventually Nikolaus joined them.
When the show was on, the Saxon cringed at the sight of his animated father, and when he heard the character's voice, he winced. "He sounds nothing like him," he commented, "who chose the actor? Eclipse?"
"It sort of sounds like Uncle Wolfe," Ella added, "he just has more energy than your vater."
M: "Niko, there isn't anyone alive beside Mandara and Derogan who remember how your dad and his friends sound like," Rowen reminded the boy, "there are going to be a few differences here and there, like how they put Johann as the leader of the group. I say this as no offence to my son, but if anyone was the leader of your little gang it was Erna, she was the only one who kept you three boys from burning down Britain."
N: "Now that I can agree with," Johann chuckled, "and I still wonder how she kept us in check."
"She's my Mutter," Niko mumbled as he watched the animated Erna on screen, "she always had the strength to keep us in check."
M: "That's Ernie alright, I always admired that girl up until the end," Rowen smiled with nostalgia.
The group watched the TV show for several hours, even Wolfgang joined them once he finally picked himself back up from last night. The plot of the show portrayed the four friends as a band of misfit adventurers that would travel across a heavily fantasized version of Europe battling monsters and bands of Prussians. Prussia was of course portrayed as the big bad guy, the cruel and sadistic necromancer who had a knack of kidnapping Mandara and Derogan.
At the end of every other 30-minute-long episode, it gave Prussia some sympathetic moments of being upset that his plans didn't work, or being bullied by a mysterious higher power, which didn't seem strange to MC, Poldara, and Adira, but Rowen and the rest were certainly annoyed with it.
N: After they had finished one of the many seasons of the show, Johann turned to the Mandarians and asked, "why does Prussia keep on getting a redemption moment every other episode? That's not how he was in real life, and he definitely didn't deserve a redemption moment 300 years ago."
"It's a kid's show," Wolfgang sighed, his energy still low since that morning, "they're not going to show Prussia's true nature, and besides, the modern world has already seen his redemption, ie Corbin."
Johann was still visibly annoyed by it, "Preußen es nicht verdient (Prussia didn't deserve it)," he mumbled.
M: "Corbin hatte in dieser Angelegenheit keine Wahl (Corbin didn't get a choice in the matter)," Poldara grunted, "Let's make something clear, most of the countries that have been brought back to life were brought back by idiotic humans that put them through hell with their insane asylum experiments. Whatever Jastrem had in store for him was nothing compared to what the humans put him through, he said so himself."
MC nodded in agreement, "the bible states that resurrection is the beginning of new life, not a pause of the life. For you guys it may seem like everything is supposed to stay as it was, but it ain't, Prussia is dead, you should be glad about it, not blame Corbin for the sins of his old life."
Oddly enough, Rowen actually nodded to this, if what MC said wasn't Mandoria mentality then he didn't know what was.
N: "Nein, nein, I'm not saying that Corbin shouldn't've been redeemed," Johann explained himself, then he pointed at the screen, "I'm saying that THAT Prussia didn't deserve redemption. Not now. Not ever."
"Kress, it's a kids show-" Wolfgang began but was quickly cut off by the Mandorian.
"I don't care," he rebutted, "I'm just pissed that Prussia can be shown as a redeemable figure, when he wasn't, and before you lecture me," he turned back to the Mandarians, "I'm saying historically, not in today's age."
M: "Yeah well, again, you don't know him like we do," MC stated, taking a swig of his whisky, "I ain't saying what he did was justified, but what I am saying is that everything is done for a reason, there is no such thing as evil for the sake of evil, every villain has their motives."
"Ok, I think that's enough TV for today," Poldara declared, turning off the television, "Let's not argue over a work of fiction, that's what Comic Cons are for, and Honey, what have I told you about drinking in front of the children."
"Which children, the little ones or the taller ones," the militant joked, "the kids should know better than to try to drink this stuff, or at least better than your father when he was little."
Rowen snorted at that, Poldara wasn't as amused and snatched the alcohol to put it away, much to the annoyance of his husband. He didn't dwell on it that long as he hopped up and stretched.
"Alright, I better get going, I promised Eclipse I would go jackal hunting with him this evening, if anyone wants to join they can, you can find me in the hunting room if you do."
N: "I'll like to join," Wolfgang spoke, half heartedly raising his hand, "sounds like fun."
"And since when were you in the right state, both mentally and physically, to go hunting," Johann frowned, "you're not going."
"Relax, I'll be fine, mother," the Saxon rolled his eyes, "if I won't be able to pass the time drinking, I might as we go hunting."
"Poldara said that you were sick," Niko spoke up, catching both the men's attention, "were you hungover?"
Johann just stared at Wolfgang, as if to say 'look at what you've done', but the other just laughed and ruffled his son's hair.
"Your mind is as sharp as ever, Schatzi (little treasure)," he smiled before resting his head on the sofa's backrest, "keep it up."
Johann just sighed and shook his head.
M: "Wolf, you are a terrible influence," Poldara stated, but he didn't add to that as he stared hard at MC, "don't you dare let him shoot any guns."
"Honeybunch, how long have we been married, do you honestly think I would let someone who is half hungover and has never shot modern guns before, shoot one willy-nilly?"
"Yes, that's exactly what I expect from the maniac who has his own daughter pose with live guns for his stupid Facebook page."
MC grumbled, "ok that's fair, I promise I won't let Wolfie near any guns."
Poldara was about to retort in disbelief when Rowen pipped up, "I'll go with them, I've had to babysit the boys when Erna was pregnant, I know how to handle them, this shouldn't be any different.
N: "Well I'm going to stay here," Johann spoke, "far away from those guns and babysitting the kids."
"Have fun," Wolfgang smirked, to which the other just told him to shut up."
M: "See ya guys, don't bother waiting up for dinner we might not be back in time," MC said, he then leaned down to hug Adira goodbye, kissed his grumpy husband, and led Rowen and Wolfgang to his truck.
It certainly wasn't any old pickup, it was a hefty American-made Ford F-150 that certainly made the other cars in the garage look like toys, and in true southern fashion, it had longhorn horns over the grill.
"Alright fellas, hop on in little miss Mountain Mover, and get ready for the best evening of your lives," the American militant declared, "first we're gonna stop at that steakhouse that I like to meet Eclipse for an early dinner, then we're gonna head to the shooting range to pass the time until the huntin' hours start, and then we're gonna clock in at the farm that's paying us to hunt them coyote wannabes, maybe if we're lucky we can keep 'em this time 'round."
N: "Shooting," Wolfgang smiled, rubbing his hands together to get ready, although he was quickly shut down by the other two, to which he just sighed and hopped into the truck.
"It feels like 'little' doesn't quite fit the description of your car," the Saxon added, "there is nothing little about it, but yeah sure, add mountain mover to the name."
M: "Ain't nothing beats good ol' American wheels, partner, but wait 'till you check out my guns in the back, you better hope your shoulder can handle the recoil," MC boasted as he started up the truck and drove out of the garage.
"Wait what, I thought we established that Wolfgang was not going to be firing any weapons," Rowen pointed out.
"Not firing any weapons while hunting," MC corrected with a smirk, "come on, you honestly think that an American militant entity is going to ban someone from guns, guns are practically a part of religion back home. I think the safety of a gun range is more than fine for Wolf, with him being half lit he already fits in quite nicely."
Before Rowen could protest, the militant switched on his radio to the rock and roll country music and started loudly singing along to Sweet Home Alabama, leaving the poor Mandorian to wonder what madness he got himself into.
N: "See, Rowen, it's fine," Wolfgang smiled as he leaned in between the passenger and driver seats, and patted his shoulder, "MC knows what he's doing, besides, Poldara won't be in the gun range."
MC kept on signing for the rest of the ride, with Wolfgang cheering him on, drunk off vibes but still a little drained from the morning. When they had arrived at the steakhouse, Wolfgang almost stumbled out of the truck, leaning against the vehicle for support as he tried to make the world stop spinning.
"That was a fun ride," he spoke after pulling it together, "but I doubt my stomach handled all that movement too well."
M: MC chuckled, "you'll get used to it, a nice cold ginger ale should settle your stomach a bit, now wait till you get your hands on the steaks here, your mouth will explode from the taste."
They went inside and MC requested a table for four, but was delightfully surprised that the lady said they already had one. She led them to a table by the pool tables where Eclipse and TE were waiting for them, the latter happily munching on the free breadsticks.
"Hey partner, looks like you brought friends," Eclipse said to MC, "Wolfgang I would have expected but I'm surprised Rowen is here."
"Well I was supposed to be the babysitter of the group," the Mandorian grumbled, "but clearly I was not prepared to deal with a bunch of trigger happy lunatics."
N: "Not as simple as dealing with myself, Johann and Heinz, right," Wolfgang smirked as he sat himself down at the table.
M: Rowen glared at him as he sat down, then huffed and grabbed a breadstick to angrily chew on, much to TE's annoyance.
"Cheer up, Rowen, try to have some with this, you're stuck with us for the next few hours," Eclipse said, sipping his coffee, "surely you know how to do that, right."
"Alright, stop poking at the poor guy, let's just order and then I want to see your pool action, Wolf," MC smirked, "assuming they had pool back in your days."
N: "Of course we had pools in my day," Wolfgang tilted his head in confusion, "but I don't see any pools around us."
When it was pointed out that the sport they were referring to was played on the tables next to him, he shook his head, "nein, I've never played pool before. It must have been invented afterwards."
Looking at the menu, the Saxon was a bit overwhelmed by the options. Sure, he has had steak before, but nowhere near as often to know what to choose.
"Any recommendations," he asked.
M: MC helped him out with the choices, staying away from the spicy ones and suggesting ones he thought would be best, he also made sure that everyone knew that alcohol was off limits today, even if he and Eclipse already didn't drink before shooting, he still wanted the point to be put across. They all eventually got their orders in and were given their drinks, and while they waited for food the militant decided he would give them some lessons in pool.
"Always remember to be aware of your surroundings when playing," he stated, pointing his pole at Wolfie and Rowen, "the fastest way to start a bar fight is by accidentally poking some dude in the ass with one of these."
N: "I mean, it wouldn't be the first time I've gotten into a bar fight," Wolfgang shrugged, "but this place is way too fancy for a fight to just ruin it."
Holding his pole, he pointed it at the cue ball and took a practice shot after MC taught him how to hold the pole correctly. However, the cue skewed off to the side and just hit one of the balls in the corner of the triangle.
"This is much harder than I thought," the Saxon mumbled.
M: "Yep, it takes a while to get the ball to go where you want it to go," MC agreed, "we got plenty of time to practice, no rush at all."
With that said, the four of them played as best as they could while waiting for the food to come, the two militants patiently teaching Wolfgang and Rowen what they knew and holding back when they played so they weren't outcompeting their friends, but it was hard to do that when TE was constantly chasing and playing with the balls.
Rowen and Wolfie got fairly good by the time their food was ready, the latter even managing to get the highest score out of the four, so far things were going pretty good.
N :Although he was pretty happy about his score, he guessed it to be beginner's luck and didn't boast about his victory as they sat down and only waited a couple more minutes before the food arrived.
Now with the steak in front of him, Wolfgang tentatively chopped a slice off, stared at the piece of meat for a moment before taking a bite. The moment he did, the man seemed to freeze, in utter shock at what he had eaten before slowly chewing on it.
"This is the best meal I've had in a long while," the Saxon finally spoke as he cut himself another slice.
M: "I feel like we are going to be saying that a lot," Rowen chuckled, popping a steak piece into his own mouth, "It seems like everything we eat is the best thing ever."
"Welcome to the future, where food is king and you can never get enough of it," Eclipse declared, "I would be careful though, some places in the world have some pretty weird delicacies."
Not much else was said as they ate, Rowen and Wolfgang were enjoying their food too much to talk, and MC was texting with Poldara to continually reassure him that everything was fine. TE kept trying to snag other people's steaks away even though he had his own, the little dragon must have thought that other people's food tasted better than his, so he and Eclipse were consistently swapping their meals so he would be satisfied.
N: They didn't have to rush so the four of them took their time eating their food, enjoying every bite they could.
Eventually, Wolfgang set his cutlery down as he let out a huge sigh, his stomach full. "Now that was a meal," he chuckled as he took a sip from his drink, "extremely filling."
M: "You can say that again," Rowen agreed, wiping his mouth, "I probably won't need to eat for a good while now."
"Don't speak too soon, we still got a lot of work to do tonight, but jackal hunting hours don't start until nightfall, so we'll be heading to the gun range to grab the tags and shoot some targets," Eclipse said.
"What do you mean tags," Rowen asked, and when it was explained he hummed, "so hunting is regulated so people don't over hunt the population, I like that, we should have had that back in the kingdom."
They sat for a moment to digest a bit of their meals, then paid and went back to the cars, well, just to the truck, Eclipse didn't seem to have a car as he simply spread his wings and took off into the sky.
"Show-off," MC chuckled, "alright, I'll try to drive a little more carefully so Mr. WereWolf doesn't puke in my truck, which I will make him clean up if he does."
N: "Haha, very funny," Wolfgang grumbled as he hopped in, "blame it on the alcohol."
When they were on their way towards the gun range, the Saxon saw Rowen's soured face. "So we're not going to tell Poldara that I'll hold a gun today, alright," he spoke to the Mandorian, "It will be our little secret."
M: Rowen only huffed in response, so MC tried to bring light to it, "Think of this as training for Wolfie, you guys are in a new era with new dangers and new weapons, sooner or later you gotta learn to defend yourselves, as a general surely you understand."
"Captain," Rowen corrected, "we didn't need a general since the kingdom didn't usually go to war with anyone. I just don't like the idea of Wolf being around weapons when he has alcohol in his system, it's dangerous."
"I understand, and I'm prepared to step in if things get out of hand," the militant stated, becoming more serious than before, "I wouldn't be letting him near guns if I wasn't sure that everything was under control. Please, everything will be fine, I promise."
The other looked at him doubtfully but said nothing more, so MC took it as a green light, giving Wolfgang a thumbs up to say that it was all good now.
N: Wolfgang smiled as he returned the thumbs up before leaning back into his seat.
After not long, the trio arrived at the gun range, and the Saxon rolled his eyes when he saw Eclipse already there, waiting for them.
"You don't need to rub it in," he spoke to the Mandarian before looking through a window into the lobby with some guns hanging from the walls. "I wish Heinrich was here," he muttered mostly to himself as he looked around, "he would have loved to see this."
M: "Yeah, Heinz would have been drooling at the sight of all this," Eclipse agreed, "that kid sure did love his guns. I'll let you guys get checked in, there's a surprise guest in the range that I want you to meet, I didn't even know she would be here."
Now intrigued by what Eclipse said, MC went through the registrations and buying the tags they would need for the hunting later, he opted out of the teaching course, he figured he and Eclipse were capable enough to show Wolfgang and Rowen the ropes.
When they entered the actual range they immediately spotted who Eclipse was talking about, there was a countryhuman shooting a fully automatic, they had a black, yellow, and blue color scheme with two medium sized wings on their back. They were clearly a Mandarian, their military uniform was similar to MA's and when they turned to look at everyone they had a shield over their right eye, as well as similar stars on their wings as MA.
"Guys, this is Stella, she's my and the twins oldest sister," Eclipse introduced them, "she was visiting Mom and came back early without telling us."
"Because I don't want Dad breathing down my neck all the time, you know how he is," Stella laughed, then held out her hand to Rowen and Wolfgang, "it's a pleasure to meet you, I've heard so much about you two and Johann."
N: "It seems like everyone has," Wolfgang joked as he shook her hand, "and it's nice to finally meet you, Stella."
Once they had passed formalities, MC and Eclipse began showing Rowen and Wolfgang how to handle the firearms, and it didn't take long for the Saxon to familiarise with the weapon. He was a soldier after all, and he was able to hit a couple bullseyes even in the state he was in.
"How long were you here before we arrived," the Saxon asked Stella as he reloaded a new magazine.
M: "Just since yesterday, I had Mom promise not to tell anyone that I was back," the female country answered, "I have nothing against Dad, he is the best one anyone could ask for, but he can just be really overprotective and overbearing, I just need some time to myself every once in a while."
"Yeah, that's the thing about MA, the centuries have really taken a toll on him," Eclipse stated, "our family has been through a lot of shit, and he always blames himself for it, it doesn't matter what it is, he thinks it's his fault, the torture he went through with Stella's other-"
He squealed and doubled over when his sister elbowed him in the groin, clearly indicating that what he was about to say was a privet matter. What he said was enough to make Rowen look to Wolfie in concern, silently asking if the latter was thinking the same thing as him.
N: Wolfgang glanced at Rowen, and sensing that they were thinking the same thing, he sighed.
"Well," he began cautiously, "it's not like we didn't notice how dissimilar your flag is to the twins, so I guessed someone was involved, but there's no point delving into the past."
He raised his gun and pointed at the human shaped target, and despite the target being placed on the figure's torso, the Saxon shot for the head and the bullet hit right in the middle of it.
"But damn, Eclipse," the Saxon continued, trying to lighten up the mood, "with all of your magical abilities, how could you not block that punch? Did TE eat your magic away along with your steak?"
M: Eclipse merely flipped him off, though TE made a sort of cackling noise like he was laughing, Stella even cracked a smile. After the entity recovered they continued the lessons, going through different types of guns and explaining how specific ammo could only work with certain guns.
After a few hours, it was time to go hunting, the boys even convinced Stella to go with them. They all headed out of the city limits and up to a nearby sheep farm, where Eclipse and MC chatted with the owners and they got their sectors where they could hunt. Eclipse took Rowen to the west sector of the property, and Stella, MC, and Wolfgang took the east, agreeing to meet back at the farm by midnight.
N: Now with the alcohol mostly out of his system, Wolfgang could fully concentrate on his surroundings, and despite being chatty a couple hours ago, he was now dead silent as he followed Stella and MC.
With a rifle slung over his shoulder, the Saxon zoned out as he returned to his 'natural habitat'.
M: "Why are you letting him carry that, he doesn't have a hunting license, or for that matter, any sort of I.D, if he kills something then he could be arrested," Stella told her fellow militant.
"It's the only gun with the night vision scope, I didn't want him to feel useless during this hunt," MC explained, "I made sure that it wasn't loaded, he can help you spot the critters."
"Fine," she sighed, "I just hope he knows what he's doing, I'm not carrying him home when he gets mauled by any predator we may encounter."
N: "You're just like Esha," Wolfgang mumbled, "at least she did teach me while we hunted."
The moment he stopped speaking, he heard a twig snap and froze, trying to locate where he heard the noise.
Now holding the rifle in his hands, he held it up and looked down the scope, and noticed some movement off to his left, so he silently pointed in that general direction so the others knew what he was looking at.
M: The group stopped dead and waited, trying to see if the creature would come into the faint moonlight, but it stopped moving as they did. MC took out a jackal call and let a few out to see if there would be a reaction, and it caused the animal to raise its head and bolt, revealing it to be a small deer.
"That wasn't bad though, at least we know there are prey animals here," Stella said, "you're pretty good for your first time with a night scope."
N: "It's just like a spyglass, but you can see better in the dark," Wolfgang shrugged as he lowered his rifle, "and besides, I adapt quick enough. Life? Not really. But this? Sure."
With that, he fell silent and kept on walking, occasionally glancing up at the moon to guess how long they had left.
M: The group hunted into the night, they did manage to find a few jackals, but MC kept finding excuses to not hunt them, one was just a pup, another had a large abdomen so was probably pregnant, and yet another had a tracking collar on it.
Stella was clearly getting frustrated but tried not to show it, she still went off on her own at one point and so it was just the boys.
"Hey, I'm sorry if I seem like I don't want to be hunting," the American apologized to Wolfgang, "I'm a wildlife rescuer and rehabilitator, I don't like killing just for the fun of it, everything has a right to live and I've seen the worst side of humanity putting innocent animals through hell. I know the farmer wants the jackals gone so his sheep will be safe, but I also know that a jackal isn't big or brave enough to take down a sheep. I will only kill the ones who are suffering or are a significant danger, I hope you understand."
N: "Ja, I do," Wolfgang nodded, "back when...well, when I was alive, it wasn't uncommon for me to be associated with people who would hunt for the fun of it. However, when I did, it was always to feed my family, or to sell it to another."
The Saxon stopped in his tracks and continued, "my friend, Heinrich, would usually be my hunting partner when Erna couldn't come along. He always shot to kill, not to injure, and although it was unsettling to see him so calm about it, you'd understand that he didn't want them to suffer."
M: "I see we have similar hunting ideologies," MC stated, "I'm just glad that you understand the value of a life, with my line of work as a general and an animal rescuer, it's tough finding people like you anymore."
With that said, MC stood there for a moment as if contemplating something, he then reached into his pocket and tossed Wolfie a bullet.
"No one has to know, but you only get one shot, let's see what you got."
N: Wolfgang was taken by surprise as he caught the bullet, staring at its surface as it reflected the moonlight before looking back at MC. After a moment, the Saxon nodded and loaded the bullet in, and when he heard a satisfying click that the gun was now loaded, he let out a long sigh.
Just as he did, he heard some leaves rustle not too far from them, so he quickly raised his weapon and looked down the scope. When he did, he could make out the outline of an animal, and he could see it staring back at them, so without a moment to spare, he aimed and shot.
The Saxon knew he hit his mark when he heard something drop to the ground along with a welp, so he lowered his gun.
"I overheard Stella saying that I shouldn't kill, so since I probably did hit something," the Saxon awkwardly smiled, "good luck."
As he began to walk towards whatever he shot at, he paused for a moment, "danke, for the bullet."
M: MC tipped his hat to Wolfgang, then followed him to see their kill, thankfully it was an older jackal and not some other animal. Since Wolfie didn't end up killing it, the militant took out his knife to finish it off as quickly as possible. He showed the Saxon how to tag an animal after a hunt and how to temporarily dress the wounds so it doesn't bleed all over.
With that done they scouted the rest of their sector and managed to score two more jackals, then headed back to meet with the others to see what they got.
N: When they had finally met up with the others, Wolfgang smiled a bit as he saw that the other group had some jackals.
"Successful night," he asked.
M: "Sure was, looks like we killed our limit tonight too," Eclipse said when he and Rowen came closer, "Stella's not with you, I guess she got impatient again."
"Yeah, I know it's not her fault, the poor girl is just a little jittery," MC chuckled, "I wonder if she actually caught anything."
There was a gunshot in the distance right then, indicating that she did indeed catch something, so the boys waited for her to show up before they would turn in their bodies. Stella soon approached with a single jackal in hand, though she was still quite proud of it, considering her messy feathers and clothes full of burrs, she clearly had to fight to get it.
"And this is why I prefer hunting people," she sighed tiredly, "people don't make you crawl through burr bushes to get them."
"You know nothing kid, back in the civil war crawling through bushes was part of the training," the oldest militant again chuckled, "come on, we'll turn in the bodies and get you home to clean you up."
"I'll help you out, I know a thing or two about getting burrs out of feathers," Rowen offered, "Hey Wolfie, did your kids ever mess with the burr bushes like mine?"
N: "They sure did," Wolfgang chuckled as they walked to turn in what they found, "Julia would always throw a bunch of burs at Niko just to annoy him, so in return, he would drag her clothes through those bushes."
The Saxon rubbed the back of his neck as he reminisced the funny, but quite frustrating, moment, "Ernie would always be onto Niko, making sure he didn't have anything up his sleeve, both in the metaphorical sense and literally."
When they had arrived at the farmhouse, Wolfgang waited behind so that the others could do their job, but then something clicked in his mind and he frowned.
"Did you say that you would hunt people," he asked Stella when she came back.
M: "I was being sarcastic, I'm a militant entity so I was referencing that sometimes I gotta take down the bad guys," she clarified, absent-mindedly picking the burrs out of her uniform, "I'm not my sister, Zal is the one who is the contract killer."
"What happened to that woman to make her go down such a path," Rowen asked, "I don't understand how the daughter of my Derogan could become a murderer."
"Because she's not the daughter of Derogan, none of us are the children of Derogan," Eclipse told him, "Derogan has been dead ever since the Cold War, things happened that no one is telling you yet, the Derogan and Mandara you guys know are long gone. Mandara Army is paranoid and overprotective, with an unhealthy amount of survivor's guilt, so you can understand why almost none of his kids want to be under the same roof as him for longer than necessary."
N: Wolfgang hummed as he nodded along, "makes sense."
As they walked back to MC's truck, the Saxon wondered, "I wondered how Johann is handling the kids. He can be responsible at times, but I wouldn't put it past him to join their antics."
M: "It's twelve o'clock, I'm sure that everyone is asleep right now," MC reminded him, handing out the loot to everyone, "and I think that's a pretty good idea too, Stell, will you be joining us back home?"
"Yeah, I gotta get cleaned up anyway," the younger country confirmed, "I hope you guys are in for another hour of helping me get un-burr-dened."
"Not it," MC and Eclipse said in unison, earning a grumble from Stella. They stopped the conversation there and headed to the truck, the two siblings hopping into the bed of the trunk, and they drove back home.
N: When they had finally arrived back home, Wolfgang decided to call it a night and wished everyone goodnight before heading towards the guest wing with Rowen.
All the father could think of was where Niko was, so when he checked his room, he was thankful to find his son already in bed.
However, he began to wonder about the noise that was coming out of the Kress' room, so he carefully opened their door and peeked inside.
He couldn't help but smile as he saw the father and daughter fast asleep, Helena's head on Johann's chest while he had his arm around her. The source of the noise was coming from the TV, with the show featuring the adventurous Saxons on full display.
"Seems like they had fun," he whispered as he went over and switched off the TV, "I'll thank him for tucking Niko into bed in the morning."
M: Rowen woke up MA to come help him clean up Stella, though didn't offer an explanation as to why she was hunting with them in the first place. They did that for the next hour or so and then went back to their rooms, Stella decided to just camp on the couch since she didn't want to sleep in the guest rooms.
In the morning she got up and hoped to leave before everyone else woke up, not to avoid people but because she figured that this wasn't the proper way to meet Johann and the kids. Unfortunately, it was raining pretty hard so she couldn't go anywhere, her smaller wings wouldn't have been able to handle it, leaving her to awkwardly wander between the dining room and living room to wait for everyone to wake up.
