Hallo Bruder
N: Johann was really worried, wondering how Prudoria had turned into over the last centuries, and if he could even see a slither of his younger brother.
Seeing this, Wolfgang rested his hand on his shoulder, causing the other to jump a little, "it's fine, Kress, don't stress over meeting him."
"But what if-"
"He's your brother," the Saxon reminded him, "treat him like one." Once the Mandorian nodded, he smirked, "and if we see Corbin, I'll bet my left leg that I'll punch his guts."
M: "And Corbin will let you too, I don't think I've ever seen him stand up for himself," Mandara said, "it's pretty common to see him with some sort of injury, I think his arm was broken two weeks ago by Norway. I wouldn't put it past him to come, this is one of his few safe places."
"And I still don't understand why, he burnt this whole kingdom to the ground, why is everyone so ... progressive, towards him," Rowen asked.
"Because it's been over three hundred years since then, any true Mandorian has long been dead," MA told him, "we've moved on from that, 'if a man constantly looks into the past, he can't see himself move on to a better future'. Father was the wisest person in our lives, so we continue to live by his words to this day."
N: "Technically speaking, he's not exactly in the past for us," Wolfgang pointed out.
"Just drop it, Wolfe," Johann sighed, tired of the Saxon, "let's just have a peaceful meet up."
"When is Uncle Prudie going to arrive," Helena asked, momentarily distracting herself from an unfinished game she and Niko picked up from last night.
M: "Any minute now, Sweetie, Zalia was supposed to bring him here," Poldara said, "but I want you and Niko to be prepared, Uncle Prudoria is going to be a lot different than you remember him, and it may take a while for him to soften back up."
"Uncle Prudie is scary, he never smile or talk," Adira admitted, "thankful he no visit much, I no like him."
"Adira, don't say that about your uncle, he is a very nice person who has been through a lot," Mandara scolded.
"Yep, that about sums up how our brother turned out," MA sighed.
They waited for a couple of minutes more until they heard the doorbell ring, Mandara went to get it and came back with just Zalia.
"Alright ladies, Prudoria is waiting out in the hall, he brought Corbin along as well, so I don't want any fights to start," she warned, then looked to Johann, "last chance to back out, buddy, you aren't gonna like what you see."
N: There was a small 'aww' from Wolfgang from the 'no fight' warning, and Johann just nodded.
"I can't avoid him forever, can I," he spoke, then he turned to Helena, "so, who is ready to see Uncle Prudie?"
The young girl hesitated a bit before getting up from her seat and walking towards her father, to which Niko did the same, and then the group went together to the hallway, bracing themselves for what was in store for them.
M: When they had found the two, if it weren't for one of them having mechanical body parts, it was hard to tell one from the other. Corbin immediately hid behind Prudoria, his organic and inorganic eyes gazing nervously at the people he knew for the wrong reasons, but that wasn't anything compared to the younger Prussian in front of him.
Prudoria stood tall with his hands behind his back, staring emotionlessly and without that innocence he was known for. Dressed in green royal attire with a Prussian fur-trimmed cloak, he was like a much more serious Prussia, yet he wouldn't say a single word.
They all stood there in shock and silence for a good while, Prudoria's resting bitch face actually had to change as he raised a brow, quietly asking, 'well, are you gonna do anything'.
"Do something will ya," Zalia told Johann, "he's your brother, isn't he, go give him a hug or something."
N: Johann was frozen right where he stood, his eyes fixated on the two Prussians before him, and if it wasn't for Wolfgang nudging him forward, he would have never moved.
"It's fine; they're in unicorn costumes," he muttered to himself, confusing the Saxon beside him before cautiously approaching the pair until he was an arm's length away from Prudoria.
"Umm, hel-hallo, umm, hi," the Mandorian fumbled, "er, it's been a while since we've seen each other, I mean, for you, and...I just wanted to see how you're doing. Clearly, you've changed and I understand that you would."
The Mandorian's eyes flickered to Corbin from time to time, and his heart rocked his ribs with every beat, faster and faster. He guessed that they could detect his heart rate, but he didn't care since there was nothing he could do.
"I'm sorry if I'm disturbing you or anything, sir- Pruds," he continued, "I don't even know if you're fine with me calling you by your nickname...bitte, say something. The silence is killing me."
M: "Don't bother asking him that, Squirt, he hasn't spoken in centuries," Zalia stated, Prudoria nodding in agreement.
The country gently nudged off Corbin so he could get a better look at Johann, circling him a few times and studying places of interest. He eventually went back to his place and used sign language to talk to Zalia.
"He said that your costume is pretty convincing," she said with a chuckle, "the only flaws is that his brother was a bit taller, his eyes were a bit brighter of green, and he smelled like a pine tree. Other than that, you're a pretty good impersonator, they ought to hire you for the live action movie coming up."
Prudoria nodded to everything she said, no one could tell if he was being serious or not, his face was just too emotionless.
N: "An 'impersonator'," Johann repeated in disgust, "are you fucking kidding me? Well I'm sorry, Mr Perfectionist, that I'm not up to your standards. Maybe the last couple of centuries has warped your memory of me and all you could imagine is that knock off televised version of myself."
His fear now partially gone, he stepped towards the Prussian, "I'm sorry that I don't smell like my 18th century self, and it isn't my fault that my eyes dimmed the moment I saw two Prussia replicas," he spoke, "but I'm not having my own brother or his annoying ass boss behind me chuckle and call me a fake."
"Papa, what if he's playing with you," Helena suggested as she walked towards them, "Uncle Prudie always liked to play around with you, and he might know how we came here."
"It's obvious with Corbin about," Wolfgang pointed out, "and on the topic of Corbin, can I punch him?"
M: Prudoria glared at Johann and angrily signed, "Well I'm sorry too, sorry that the fourth god-forsaken Johann who has claimed to be my brother demands that I believe his fucking lies. If you really wanted to kill me, you could have asked nicely, but I will not be fooled by another sick son of a bitch who thinks it's funny to pretend to be someone that I will never see again!"
He grabbed Johann by the shirt and lifted him in the air, his sclera turning black as he continued to sign, "Now you listen to me, whoever the hell you are, Jo was my best friend and when he died a part of me died with him, and to see someone go out of their way to not only impersonate him, but have their buddies dress up as the rest of my dead family, it kills my very soul, and I have half a mind to kill you for it."
Prudoria clearly wasn't lying, tears were running down his face as he silently spoke. It hurt his brothers that this had been happening to him and they didn't know. They watched as the anger disappeared and the Prussian gently set Johann down, trying his absolute best not to cry.
"We're done here, thank you for ruining my fucking day, it's very much appreciated. Come on, Father, let's go home."
N: "Bitte, Pruds," Johann begged as he held the Prussian back, but he was promptly pushed away, "please, let me prove myself. Ask me anything, anything at all, that would allow me to prove to you that I'm actually me."
"Kress, there's no point," Wolfgang sighed as he walked up so he stood beside him, "he doesn't believe you."
"I'm begging you, Pruds," the Mandorian persisted, "anything, literally anything."
M: Prudoria merely narrowed his eyes, he didn't have any intention of answering Johann's pleas, he looked like he was one step away from gutting the human where he stood, but was prevented by Corbin firmly grasping his shoulder.
"What do you have to lose, Prudoria, if he's lying it's not gonna change anything," he stated, his voice was calm and almost sounded tired, "I mean, so many of us have been coming back, who's to say that humans wouldn't also return, give him the benefit of a doubt."
The younger Prussian stared at the older one, his face now showing confliction, and after a moment or two, he took a deep breath and sighed, turning back to Johann.
"When my father, Rowen, passed away, he gave us all something to remember us by, and when you died you gave that same thing to me, what did you give me?"
N: Johann immediately knew the answer, since his death was the last memory he had from his past life, but his face saddened at the memory of Prudoria looking down at his dying face.
"I gave you Hezyka's Ankh charm," he answered, "because I wished that your heart could continue to shine like the charm itself."
He paused for a moment before adding quietly, "and then I apologised for leaving you; that I couldn't stay for longer to be with you, Mandy and Derogan."
M: Prudoria was silent, deathly silent, as if a power switch had been flipped and he shut down, and no one could tell what he was thinking. Then his eyes began to tear again, he didn't make any noise but he was clearly crying. He unclipped his cloak to show a silver chain around his neck, and when he reached into his shirt he pulled out the charm, still as shiny as the day it was given to him.
"I guess this is our last adventure, and I will have to travel it alone," he quoted Johann, and not via sign language; his raspy, unused voice quietly whispered from this throat, "I'm sorry you guys have to stay behind, I wish I didn't have to go, but I will always be thankful for you, I couldn't have asked for better brothers."
For the first time in so many years, a smile crept across his face, he then embraced Johann as hard as he could, and that cold, emotionless man broke down into a sobbing mess.
N: Johann tightly returned the embrace, tears of joy running down his face, and he let his brother let it all out.
"It's nice to see you again, Pruds," the Mandorian smiled, "I'm back, ok? I'm here now."
"Yay, Uncle Prudie is back," Helena cheered, running up to them and hugging them around their legs.
"So I guess I don't have to prove myself then," Wolfgang joked as he let them have their moment.
M: Everyone smiled, even Zalia did, they were so happy to see a sliver of Prudoria's old self, especially to hear him speak after so long. Rowen soon joined his sons, who were now on the floor, and held on tightly to his youngest boy, but what was surprising to everyone was that he looked up to Corbin and actually thanked him, thanked him for convincing Prudoria to give them a chance.
Corbin smiled awkwardly and looked away, he was clearly uncomfortable being there, surrounded by people he had hurt in his past life, but relaxed when Adira came up to hug him.
"How's my Urenkelin been doing, I hope you have been good for your parents," he smiled softly, scratching behind her cat ears, "I see that you got some new friends, that's very good, you needed to socialise more, I'm glad to see that you are happy."
N: "Adira has been a nice friend," Niko finally spoke up as he walked over to Corbin, and while he did, Wolfgang carefully watched the boy. "It looks like the both of you are close," he noted.
"He's family to her, that's why," Wolfgang said as he walked over to them and swung his arm over the Prussian's shoulders, then he stared right at Corbin, "it's such a shame that I'll have to do this. Sorry in advance," and with that, he sucker punched the other right in the gut with all the strength he could muster.
Watching the Prussian double over from the pain, he tilted his head and scoffed, "it's going to take a while to get used to that face of yours, but I'm glad that you've had a change of heart."
M: Corbin was expecting to get hit, he was surprised it took Wolfie this long to hit him though, "Yeah, yeah, I deserve that," he winced as he was brought down to his knees, "I'm a little surprised that's all you did, but thanks for being merciful, I guess."
Zalia chuckled at Corbin's pain, "Well, at least we got the housekeeping matters out of the way, unless anyone else wants to give him a good kick in the ass."
"Give me a minute to catch my breath," the German chuckled painfully, "I'll be here for a few days with Pruds, there will be plenty of time for ass kickings."
Mandara and Derogan came over to help Corbin and Prudoria stand up, and suggested they go to the living room to catch up.
N: "Don't tempt me, Corbin," Wolfgang chuckled coldly, "for if you had met me the moment I arrived, I would have murdered you on the spot, but after I've had a moment to think, I think it's best to just punch you for each person you hurt in Saxony," he glanced at the Prussian, a hint of malice in his eyes, "and that's a lot of people."
After he was told to calm down, he rolled his eyes, "this is like a dream come true; none of us dared to even dream of this moment, and I'll literally die before passing this opportunity by."
M: "It's ok, like I said, I deserve it, whatever you feel is necessary I won't resist," Corbin shrugged, "we can schedule sessions or something."
"Please you two, not in front of the children," Mandara warned, "you can discuss this later, just not in front of the young ones."
"What we should really talk about is how Jo got Prud to say something, for over a century we haven't been able to do that," MA said, "after Saxon's death and Anglo basically cutting himself off from everyone, not a single word has been uttered."
N: "We're taking baby steps, aren't we," Johann smiled as he patted his brother's back, "but even though his reaction is understandable, I still feel bad that Anglo cut you off like that," the Mandorian commented, "he was a father to you."
M: Prudoria nodded sadly, he continued to sign since he wasn't ready for full conversations yet, "he was devastated, it was Chrysalis who killed Saxon, he was able to by no longer being an insurgent, Anglo got his revenge but didn't manage to kill him. No one could get through to him, not his family, friends, no one, he shattered and has been that way since. He wanders around, never staying in one spot for too long, I think he travels with Esha but she hasn't said so."
"Anglo didn't exactly cut anyone off, it's more that he just wants to be alone," MA stated, "he always goes back to Britain on the anniversary of their marriage and of Saxon's death, to visit him and talk about his adventures, but he never lets anyone go with him."
"But if we're lucky, that might change," Zalia said with a smile, "because a little bird told me that my father and cousin are going to raid a facility in a week that has both Saxon and HRE, alive."
"Wait what," Mandara exclaimed, "how long has this been a thing!" MA couldn't answer from the shock of being sold out.
N: "You knew," Wolfgang questioned, and Johann's hesitation was all he needed to confirm his suspicions, "are you kidding me? You knew and you didn't tell me?!"
"I couldn't find the right time to tell you," Johann replied, trying to make up an excuse, but the Saxon had enough.
"You know what, it's fine," the Saxon mumbled, "what we should be worried about is how Anglo would react when he learns about that?"
M: "Well nothing is confirmed, it is merely speculation, that he was there," MA stated, "All I know is that whoever is there is of Germanic origin, I simply made a connection that Saxon could possibly be there, but there is no evidence yet to support this."
"Thanks a lot, Zal, telling secrets as usual, you couldn't keep one to save your life," Poldara sighed angrily.
"Actually I can, I have more than everyone in this room combined, I just don't give a shit about keeping your's," Zalia smiled, "besides, considering how close everyone in this room is to Saxon, besides Corbin, they have every right to know, don't they."
While they talked about that, Prudoria took off his charm and gave it back to Johann, "it's not mine to keep, it belongs in your family, so you can give it to Helena someday, like Rowen did to you."
N: Johann just stared at the charm, a surprised expression on his face, before holding the charm by its chain and draping it back around his neck.
"But you are my family too," the Mandorian spoke, "and I didn't make a mistake when I gave it to you. It is yours to do as you wish, but the one thing I will not accept is you returning it."
