Chapter one: Masquerade
That night, at the party
Anthony, despite promising his sister and father he would socialize, stayed in the corner of the grand hall with a barely touch glass of blood. On occasion he would venture out and say hi to a few family members or guest but that was it, that was until he was forced over by his father.
"Smile at least" if that phrase was muttered by anyone else it'd be more comforting, but Henry was at last his father and that was the same man to put him in a well lit room with a small corner of shadow as punishment. The blond vampire could still feel the burning heat that just couldn't quiet kill him.
With a quiet sigh he forced a pinched smile to his lips as his father dragged him to the center of the room, there stood a group of Vampiresses who seemed to be enjoying themselves. "Excuse me ladies" his Father started
Henry gave his son a small push, but he was use enough to it that he was able to catch himself in a semi graceful manner "This is Anthony, Lady Cherri, I hope you can get in acquaintance." One of the girls, a pale vampiress with dark red hair looked down at him with a almost sympathetic look.
Things started to click together for Anthony, the reason Molly couldn't come is so she wouldn't distract him from a engagement! He stared at the red haired vampiress, not yet returning the sympathetic look but not quiet giving her a blank look. With a bite of his lip he held out his hand too her, he knew there was no getting out of this. "Hiya, it's a pleasure to meet ya"
The other nodded and shook his hand with a grin, not denying she could feel his uneasiness. "Its good to meet ya too" Henry grinned between the two and patted their shoulders "I'll leave ya two be" and with that he left, unaware that the two vampires behind him quickly pulled their hands away from each other.
"Uh- look here" The Vampiress- Cherri muttered, pinning her arms tightly to her side "ya seem fun mate, but I got my eye on someone else yeah?" Anthony was taken aback, but glad she didn't seem comfortable with the whole engagement thing either.
"Yeah, don't worry" He muttered out, maybe he sounded to disappointed since she back up a bit. Cursing to himself in his head he quickly caught himself "not like that! Sorry, it wasn't my idea to meet.. but ya are aware are families are plannin' an engagement right?"
She nodded, and was just about to talk again before Anthony budged in "I'll just go now, enjoy the party miss" and with that he walked off, biting his lip so hard his fang punctured the skin and his undead blood slowly came out of the new hole.
At least now he had a reason to excuse himself. Looking around he made his way to the bathroom, glad the steady rythme of the musical instruments seem to fade out.
The door was closed, so he knocked and immediately pulled away when he heard rustling along with the door being violently swung opened. Staring at him was a human with long black hair and hazel looking eyes. They Just stared at each other before Anthony heard a more then familiar voice before the door closed, he tried very hard to register what just happened.
After standing there for what felt like minutes and listening to two voices argue with each other before his brother came out, fixing his hair quickly with a grumble. "The hell do ya want?"
Anthony gawked for a few seconds before grabbing his brother's shoulders and shaking him violently "Are ya fuckin' insane?! A human! Your makin' out with some human!"
After being shaken for awhile the older yet slightly shorter Vampire shoved Anthony off with a hiss "Not for long, we've talked about it for quite sometime and he's willin' to go through the process"
Anthony stared at his brother, awe struck on how he got to convince someone to go through the painful process of vampirism. Now he wasn't the one to judge his brother for his choices but the crazy town inventor was definitely a weird one.
"Even then, I doubt pops would let ya. Ya' know, pure vampires and continuing lines or some shit" Anthony watched as Johnathan averted his eyes, hissing slowly "I don't care, I can stick if out long enough until pops keels over"
They both knew it'd be years, or even centuries. Maybe that's why they were talking about turning the human into a vampire, either way he'd keep his mouth shut for Johnathan.
"Fine, but before ya two start bangin' can I wash off some blood?" He was proud to turn his brother into a blushing mess, and even prouder when Johnathan just grumbled and opened the door for him.
He smiled a bit though, immediately going to the sink to clean off his punctured lip but being careful of his makeup. In the corner of the smallish room was thee human, fidgeting with his longish hair and looking down. Nows a good time to have some fun.
"If ya hurt him" he started, cautiously looking at the human from the corner of his eye to make sure he had his attention "I'll drain ya blood to the point your nothin' but a sack of skin" he didn't mean it of course, well mostly but he still couldn't help but internally laugh at how pale the human went.
Once he cleaned up the small hole on his lip he left, leaving his brother and his lover to do their own thing. He was happy for him, but that couldn't bring his mood up at all to return to the party.
He decided to just hang around the bar, but he had to go through the crowd since it was on the other side of the room. Instead he just turned into a bat, it was impolite but he frankly couldn't care less.
Now, his near albinism carried on into his bat form. He was a near pure white fluffy bat with pink speckles goings across his wings and fluff as a substitute for his fainter freckles. The bat flew up, hoping he wouldn't be noticed like he usually does at night.
Anthony perched upside down from the ceiling, sighing as he stared down at the party below. Maybe he'll just stay up here for awhile, it was quieter then down there.
His thoughts traveled for a bit before another bat perched next to him, looking over he saw a brownish ball of fur with red eyes staring back at him.
He felt a familiarity to the eyes but couldn't quiet place a finger on where or when. He let out a small squeak in greetings, which was reciprocated by the other bat.
The brown bat ears twitched a bit and let his wings dangle down in a silly display. Anthony tilted his head a bit at the other, he couldn't help it was a bit silly and laughed a bit. If bats could grin he was sure the other would be.
Anthony stared at the other, locking eyes with him for what felt like an eternity. Once he was out of his thoughts he relized they were a lot closer then anticipated, their fluffy chest nearly touching before Anthony pulled away quickly. He squeaked in apology and let go of the ceiling, flying off to his original destination.
He could still feel those red eyes on him, but he shook off the feeling just as quickly as he left. Where has he seen that bat before? He felt so familiar!
Anthony left his bat form in a small haze of pink smoke as he made it to the bar, Immediately leaning against the counter with a sigh.
Husk looked up when he saw the vampire, immediately recognizing him as the counts son. He felt like he should ask if he wanted something but at the same time he should wait to be spoken to, maybe it was just his nerves getting to him since he snuck Alastor into the party.
"I'll have wine" the vampire told him, still having his back turned to the bartender. Husk nodded quickly, deciding it would be best to not question him.
After his wine was placed on the counter Anthony took the glass to sip at, Vampires couldn't eat too much human food but they could have it from time to time. Wine was one of them, a common drink other then blood of course.
Soon enough another vampire took a seat at the bar, he had a somewhat black and red deer looking mask on to match his black suit with a red under shirt. He looked a bit handsome in Anthony's opinion.
"Hello my good fellow" Alastor greeted, taking the seat next to the vampire. He knew all to well this was the same fellow he saw today in the square, and he should say he looked dazzling.
Anthony looked at him, eyeing the other up and down before taking a sip of his drink "Do I know ya?"
"Not at all! But that just means the more reason for introduction" Alastor laughed and held out his hand "I am Alastor my dear"
Anthony looked at his hand before hesitantly taking it, was this someone his father wanted him too meet too? "Anthony, nice too meet ya"
"Charmed" Anthony watched as the other kissed his knuckles, he could feel the rush of warmth from his hand to the rest of his cold undead body.
Alastor chuckled to himself as he watched the reaction, eventuality letting go. He had a good feeling this fellow was the same bat he met on the roof earlier, but he didn't need to know that yet.
"So, now that we're properly acquainted could I have this dance?" Alastor felt a sharp nudge from his friend on the other side of the bar, who kept shaking his head rapidly to tell him it was a bad idea.
Husk new Alastor, he knew he wouldn't willing be like this to someone he just met much less a enemy of his family. He already warned Alastor he shouldn't come, now he might just cause a lot more problems.
Alastor, being Alastor, ignored him and turned his attention back to the Ragno with his usual smile that faintly showed his fangs. "So?"
"Y-yeah" Anthony answered him, he didn't know why the question got him so tounge tied. Get your act together Tony!
Alastor chuckled and took the Vampire's hand again to pull him into the crowd, of course assuming the position by wrapping one arm around his waist and the other on his shoulder.
"So, mind telling me about this said party?" The half breed asked as they danced, it was a rather pretty sight.
"I don't see why, there's enough of them to lose details" Anthony told him, though his comment was met with being spun
"Nonesense! Every single party has a special entertainment too it, such as this one" Alastor couldn't help but laugh as he pulled the other close again
"Like what? Same music and shit ya know, or are ya just new to the family?" Anthony tilted his head, a bit confused on what this stranger meant by entertainment.
As quickly as he asked Alastor dipped the vampire, leaning in close "Like you my dear"
Anthony was caught off guard but laughed and wrapped his arms around the others neck so he wouldn't fall "you have a way with words don't ya?"
Alastor laughed and poked his nose after resuming their dance, bringing him up from the dip "Indeed I do"
Anthony cracked a little smile, letting go of him as a way to say he was done dancing but gently pulled him out of the crowd and to a balcony. "Come on"
Alastor tilted his head a bit with a ever present grin, if he wasn't such a cold blooded killer he would be worried on where he was being taken to!
The moon was full that night, a charming and comforting sigh for the vampires of the night. Alastor looked at his dance partner and couldn't help but admire him, his already paled skin sparkled in the moonlight like the jewles on his mask.
"Whatcha lookin' at?" Anthony asked, suppressing a laugh at the goofy grin the other had
"Nothing at all, you seemed to have enjoyed my words earlier so I was simply thinking" Alastor quipped, he wasn't lying to much. He went to Anthony's side and leaned on the balcony with him, still semi admiring him
"Really? Mind sharing?" The other asked
Alstor paused for a second before leaning closer and holding the others cheek, the scene being hidden by the attendees inside the castle "Violent delights have Violently ends, and in their triumph die like fire and powder as they kiss cosume the sweetest of honey"
Anthony felt warmth again, sucking a breath as he listened to the words "That's a.. That's a funny way to ask for a kiss"
Alastor wasn't expecting that, nor did he deny it. The half breed grinned and moved closer so their noses touched but not quiet close enough for a kiss "Well, do I earn the right to one?"
He brushed a thumb over the Vampire's lips, feeling how cold they were despite what the dark makeup showed. Between the two they leaned in closer, the gap between their lips nearly closing before the sound of glass breaking and a series of many hisses peirced the air.
