I don't know what to say about this one
TW for major character death
Ahsoka couldn't stop moving her fingers around the side of the holotable. The hole in her stomach just opened up even more the longer Anakin and Rex were gone. It had been something she picked up as a Padawan. Sometimes, Anakin or Obi-Wan, sometimes even Rex would be gone for a mission without her. She wouldn't be able to rest until she knew they were safe.
"Ahsoka, worrying will do us no good." Obi-Wan advised her. Part of her liked to get that level-headed advice once more. The other part wanted him to leave her alone. Obi-Wan and the Resolute didn't feel like home. Not anymore. It felt like a new, unfamiliar place. One she had to scope out before letting her guard down. Still, it was better than it feeling like another assignment. She was done with those. Or so she hoped.
"Mhm." Ahsoka said. She didn't take in the advice. She was too busy staring at the security cameras. They had nothing. The droids and Dooku just suddenly didn't appear on the cameras.
Obi-Wan rolled his eyes and sighed. He didn't say anything.
Ahsoka looked at the cameras more closely. Her eye caught something at the corner of the camera showing the medbay. She leaned in and looked closer. It was a droid's foot that looked suspended in the air. And it wasn't moving.
"Holy shit." Ahsoka swore.
"Language."
"Language, Commander."
"Ahsoka, watch your language."
Ahsoka almost smiled at the clones and Obi-Wan's chorus of telling her not to swear. She'd missed the 501st.
"No, look." She pointed at the droid's foot on the screen. "They paused the security cameras. That's why nothing is happening."
Obi-Wan placed his hand on his chin. "That certainly is something. Maybe we should—"
He was cut off by a loud banging on the door.
"Sir, signs say that someone is trying to get into this room." One of the clones reported. Ahsoka wanted to roll her eyes at the obvious.
"Dooku." She snarled.
"Where's Anakin when you need him?" Obi-Wan said as he grabbed his lightsaber and prepared to activate it.
Ahsoka raised her fists. If she didn't have anything else, she'd use her own physical strength to fight the Sith that ruined her life. Not that she wanted that life back. Well, maybe she did. She was still figuring things out.
There were several more bangs on the door until it finally broke.
Ahsoka flinched when the doors busted open and collapsed with a loud bang to the ground.
Immediately, Dooku stepped into the room, gesturing to his droids to stay out of it. Two of them held a large metal beam. That was probably what got the doors open. Part of her wondered why Dooku didn't just use his lightsaber. It'd be easier and save some time. Maybe he just wanted to establish the vibe.
The droids listened, but kept their blasters pointed at the clones. Dooku looked around, probably for her. She was right when his eyes rested on her.
"Where's Anakin and Rex?" Obi-Wan demanded.
"I was going to ask you the same thing." Dooku said smugly. He looked away from Ahsoka to Obi-Wan.
"I know you did something to them." Obi-Wan declared. He'd always been stubborn.
"Ah, still quick to judge, I see." Dooku looked back to Ahsoka. "You see how they judge everything so quickly? Once they realize you are not of use to them they will cast you out. If you would just join me—"
"No." Ahsoka narrowed her eyes as she interrupted him.
Obi-Wan and a few of the clones smiled slightly, but not enough for anyone to notice.
Dooku sighed and took his lightsaber. "I should have seen this coming."
Obi-Wan and Dooku ignited their sabers at the same time. Obi-Wan jumped in front of Ahsoka to block her from Dooku's deadly blade. He pushed onto Dooku, making the Sith fall back slightly.
Obi-Wan quickly motioned for the clones not to fire and instead be ready to fight.
Ahsoka would've joined in, but she felt the Force screaming at her not to. It instead was also guiding her to the side of the room. She followed it carefully so as not to get in the way of Obi-Wan and Dooku's violent duel. They were certainly good duelists, but she knew Obi-Wan wouldn't be able to hold out forever. Dooku was too strong.
The pull led to a box in the corner. It was on a small shelf. Since it was above her reach, she had to stand on her toes and reach up to grab it. After a second or two of trying rather hard, she got there. Before she could get the chance to open it, her eyes drifted to Obi-Wan and Dooku's duel.
Obi-Wan ducked under Dooku's blade just to be kicked in the face. He grunted in pain as he fell onto his back. He tried to get up, but another kick landed on his stomach.
The droids began firing upon the clones now that Dooku and Obi-Wan were out of the way.
"No!" Ahsoka cried out. She reached her arms out and attempted to use the Force to stop the blaster bolts from killing the clones. It wouldn't listen. As hard as she tried to reach out, the Force denied her.
She tried to stand up and run in the middle of the fire to see if that could maybe do anything. Maybe she'd die in the process. It wouldn't be such a bad thing if she did.
Dooku pushed her back with the Force. She growled at him as she felt her back hit the wall behind her.
Ahsoka looked around in pain as she watched the last of the 501st fall with cries of hurt. She blinked tears out of her eyes. Then, she felt herself get lifted up with the Force. She felt a tight fist close around her neck. She clawed at it, hoping to get the invisible force off her.
"You will pay for your betrayal." Dooku hissed. He dropped her to the ground then looked at Obi-Wan.
Ahsoka got onto all fours and coughed slightly. Force, it was good to be able to breathe again. That's when she saw what Dooku was about to do.
Count Dooku raised his lightsaber. Obi-Wan did nothing to stop it. He and Ahsoka locked eyes. They seemed to be telling her things would be okay. He closed them. The blade stabbed through his chest. It went all the way through. Obi-Wan made a coughing sound, almost like choking, before his body fell still. Dooku removed the blade and deactivated his saber.
Ahsoka wanted to feel something. She wanted to feel sad. Or maybe angry. She wanted to scream threats of revenge and fury. But she didn't. Everything just felt numb. And all she did was stare in silence.
All she did was sit there.
So about Obi-Wan's death...
I'd wanted to kill him from the start. It sets everything else up nicely, and I wanted some character death. A lot of times I see authors writing, and they want to get to point A to B, but they go through all these loops to get there. It makes no sense what they do to get there, it sometimes messes up the story, and killing someone off (usually) is easier for it all. If the killed off character has to do with something else later on, chances are you can give whatever they have to do to another character, you can change things slightly, or if things really won't work out, remove it. It annoys me when this doesn't happen because the story just gets so crazy with authors unable to do what has to be done.
While I am sad that I killed Obi-Wan, it really is best for the story, so I'm glad I killed him. In the long run, it'll be better for everything.
Anygays, the final chapter of The Winter Jedi comes out May 4th as well as the fanfic, At the End, I promised to post after this one is over. Sorry people who may be in different time zones :D
I am sorry about any damages i may have caused
This work is my own. I have written all of it. The characters and setting belong to Star Wars (Disney), and the plot is based off the Winter Solider's backstory, specifically in the MCU. If my work is copied/stolen in any way, I will find out. And I won't be happy. So don't do it.
Have a good day/night or time on an alien planet :D
