Chapter 2
Reminder :
Aubrey and Louis did break up, it just wasn't a big deal because i didn't know how to incorporate drama from across the ocean
—————————
"Ami are you almost done, we should start heading over now." My mom said from behind the door. I took one last look in the mirror and nodded.
I cracked the door open to see my mom and the twins occupying the bathroom. She was brushing their messy hair down as the boys silently kept moving around, ruining her train of focus. I walked further out of the hallway to see my dad fixing his tie in the mirror, deep in thought.
"You look great dad!" I said as I passed by towards the kitchen.
He grunted, "Thanks, I just cannot get this bloody tie on right." I laughed as I heard the British slang leave my dads lips.
I double checked my lumpia I had fried hours before to see none were missing, and everything was neatly packed ready to go.
My mom sighed as she grabbed her bag, the boys trailing behind her. "Are we finally good to go?" She questioned as my dad finally got his tie on, the boys putting on their coats, and I joining them with the platter of food in my hand.
"Ready!" we chimed as we all piled into the car.
I felt my hands get sweaty and my leg start bouncing as I remember this will be the first time I see Louis in 5 days, with no contact whatsoever.
I looked down at the bracelets at my wrist, my eyes reading the charms, Lou.
I took a deep breath as my parents pulled into their neighborhood, I had never been to Louis's house as he only ever came to mine when we were still in London.
It was a nice house, big but not too big. Lights were hung around the house, an inflatable Santa, standing in the front lawn.
My dad knocked on the door, hearing loud music coming from inside. Mrs. Partridge opened the door, welcoming us in. She took the platter out of my hands and set it down on a table.
"Nice to see you guys, thank you for coming." She greeted us with kisses on our cheeks.
The house was filled with so many people, I hadn't realize they invited this many. I looked around as I noticed my family was no longer by my side, my parents had gone off to talk to some adults as I saw the boys hanging out with kids that looked their age.
I stood awkwardly by the food table, sipping some my drink as I looked around. I saw many familiar faces, but none familiar enough to start a conversation with.
I watched as everyone greeted each other with hugs and smiles and I leaned against the wall lonely. I wanted to text Issie and Millie, but I felt they had invited their friends as well and I didn't want to interrupt.
I slowly made my way around the house, noticing all the teenagers my age were climbing up the stairs. Reluctantly, I followed.
I slowly made my way down the hallway until I heard loud laughs coming from the door at the end. I tried to listen in, but the voices were muffled.
I hesitantly opened the door to see a group of both guys and girls hanging out. It looked like a group of at least 15 people. The voices dimmed down as they noticed me standing in the doorway.
"Oh hey there you are!" I turned towards the voice. Oh thank god, somebody I know. It was Issie.
She walked towards me and gave me a hug, next was Millie.
"What is she doing here?" I heard a voice say, I peeked behind the two girls to see another unfortunate familiar face.
Aubrey.
I noticed Issie and Millie rolling their eyes before turning around. "She was invited duh." Millie spoke up.
I looked to the figure sitting next to Aubrey. It was Louis.
He greeted me with a smile, one I wish I hadn't returned.
He started to get up before Issie and Millie dragged me out of the room. I took one last look at Louis who was standing up with a confused look on his face.
The girls led me to a room which I assumed was Millie's since it had a letter "M" on the door.
They jumped onto the bed as I stood beside it. "Ami you can sit down." Millie spoke up as she grabbed a cd and putting onto the player. The familiar voice of Taylor Swift filled the room.
"Sorry about Aubrey, we didn't even want her here." Issie said as she let her feet hang in the air.
I looked at them confused, "So why is she here?"
They turned to me, "Our parents only invited her because she's been hanging with Louis the past couple days." I felt a pain in my heart.
Of course Louis was busy. Busy with his ex.
I laid back down as I stared at the ceiling above me.
"So tell me about you guys? What's been happening the last few months?" I said out loud, trying to ease the tension that had formed in the room.
—————————
"Girls c'mon the countdown is gonna start in 10 minutes!" Someone said knocking on our door.
"We'll be out!" Laughter left our stained red lips as we gulped down the last of the wine in our glasses.
"Let's go ladies!" Millie said interlocking our arms.
We opened the door to a busy hallway, bodies trying to get out and go down with the rest of the house.
I accidentally bumped into someone, clearly not paying attention to those around me. "Watch it." I said to them.
I looked up to see Louis's eyes looking into mine, his glancing down at my lips. "Darling?" He questioned. "Are you okay?" He put his hands on both of my shoulders, making me face him.
My head felt dizzy and my throat felt dry. "I'm fine Louis." I shrugged his shoulders off of me and started to walk towards Issie and Millie who were waiting at the edge of the staircase.
"Let's go Louis." I heard Aubrey's annoying voice ring out behind me.
I walked downstairs with Issie and Millie by my side, watching everyone pour champagne or apple cider into their glasses.
Issie grabbed us both waters, gulping it down, making eye contact with Louis who was still watching me from across the room with his friends and Aubrey by his side.
I rolled my eyes at him.
I looked towards the two girls at my side before grabbing three champagne bottles off the table. Handing it to them we cheered.
"30 seconds!" Someone yelled out in the crowd. The house cheered.
I looked around the room, my eyes always landing at the same spot. The soft brown eyes of Louis Partridge.
His eyes always ended up making its way towards me, but we never joined each other in the room. Instead we watched each other.
"5!"
I watched as Louis grabbed a bottle from one of his friends.
"4!"
Louis watched as I adjusted my dress.
"3!"
I watched as Aubrey put on chapstick on her lips next to the absentminded Louis who still had his eyes on me.
"2!"
Louis watched as I hugged his sisters, kissing them on the cheek.
"1!"
I watched as Aubrey pulled Louis's body towards his, but turned my eyes away before I could watch the rest.
"Happy New Years!"
Everyone cheered. The clanking of the wine bottles, the feeling of hugs, and the sound of everyone kissing their person were to be heard around the room.
I watched happily as I looked around at the joyous faces, trying to get rid of the image of Aubrey and Louis in my head.
Issie and Millie started to dance beside me to the music pumping through the speakers, soon enough I joined them. Soon forgetting the two who had occupied my mind moments before.
I soon started to get sweaty in the crowd, escaping the room, I made my way to the patio overlooking the backyard. The bright full moon glowing in the dark sky. A slight breeze sending chills down my arms.
I heard the door open behind me, but I didn't care to turn around to find out who it was.
"Hey" A voice greeted me, slowly turning my head, I realized it was Louis. He leaned against the railing facing the party as I faced away.
"How was your new years kiss with Aubrey?" I said out loud. Wow, so straight forward, good job.
Louis scoffed beside me, turning my face to look at him. "You should've looked longer to know I walked away before any of that could happen."
I didn't have a chance to register the words coming of my mouth as I said them, "Oh so you wanted me to see?"
Louis rolled his eyes, "Are you drunk?"
I punched his shoulder, "No stupid I'm not a lightweight."
"Okay, okay I'm just making sure." He laughed as he replied.
Silence took over as I looked at the ground below us.
"I wouldn't kiss another girl if I like you Ami, I told you that!" Louis said, breaking the ice.
I groaned, I never even thought of that. "Gosh I'm sorry." I facepalmed. "I mean that makes sense, I wouldn't have kissed another guy especially when I like you too."
A slow grin creeped onto Louis's face.
"5"
I looked up at him confused.
"4"
Then I realized he was counting down.
"3"
He maintained eye contact with me as he placed his hands on my hips, pulling me closer.
"2"
I went onto my tippy toes as Louis helped me stay up, his eyes wavered down my face a bit as I looked at his lips.
"1"
He breathed out.
Our lips crash once more. The same electric feeling I had felt the first time I felt him on my lips, flowed through my body. The cold chills disappeared, now overcame with a warm feeling.
This kiss felt more sincere, more innocent. It didn't last as long as the first one, but enough to fill my body with warmth.
I closed my eyes as I planted my feet back on the ground, my arms still around Louis's neck.
I looked up at him to see he was already staring back at me. I gave him a smile.
"Ami! Ami! Oh-" A voice cried out from the house.
I let go of Louis's neck though his hands never left my hips as I looked at Issie standing at the patio doors.
"Oh heyy what's up?" I said slowly moving Louis's hand, instead he interlocked it with mine.
Issie noticed this and grinned at me.
"Your parents are calling you, they said that they should start heading home now." She replied.
I made my way towards her, leaving Louis on the patio.
Once back inside the warm house, Issie nudged me, "We are definitely talking about what just happened, ask your parents if you can sleep over! My parents would definitely let you."
I rolled my eyes at the girl. "I need to ask for permission 4-5 business days ahead of time, you asked too late." I shrugged my shoulders at her as I joined my family at the front door.
Issie and Millie stood at their parents' side as Louis slowly came behind them, clearly visible as he was the tallest out of the 5 of them. We said our goodbyes, Louis and I hugging longer than the others.
I smiled at them as I started to make my way towards the front door, before a hand pulled me back.
It was Louis.
I turned to my family who was still distracted walking towards the car, and I looked behind Louis to see Issie and Millie ushering their parents away.
"Let's hangout soon yeah? Just the two of us? I'll text you okay?" Louis asked.
I nodded my head at him, "Of course, yeah"
"Great." Then he planted a quick kiss on my lips and watched me walk away.
I walked away so shocked that he had kissed us in public, well not really, but there was still a lot of people around who could've seen it. I need to ask him what all this means.
"Ready?" My dad asked as I locked my seatbelt in.
"Ready." We all replied back.
I was staring out my window as my dad drove out the neighborhood. A slight vibration from my phone distracted me from my thoughts.
