Dance — 10/10 While Jade loves to describe herself as a "lazy" main dancer there is no denying why she is the main dancer of her group and lowkey one of the strongest of the generation, because of her background in both ballet and hip hop she has a natural swag and rhythm to her, she picks up on choreography very easily and helps her members find easier ways to do steps they're struggling with

Rap — 7/10  Jade is not a rapper, she does not want to be a rapper, she has rhythm and flow but that's only through practice, she thought b-side was more of a vocal performance group so when she had to rap once or twice she  almost lost it, just because you can do it doesn't always mean you should

Hyori was born on November 20th, 2002, the second born child to a real estate agent for a father and a former ballet dancer and dance teacher for a mother. Hyori's brother Youngmin was born three years earlier and sister Seoyun born two years after Hyori and let's just say the family dynamic was always a strange one.

Sure, they all loved and cared for each other but expressing that love was always a bit foreign in the Jin family household. Being born into a household with two high achieving parents it was only natural they wanted the same achievement out of their children, something Hyori would butt heads with them about as she got older and hungry for more freedom.

Though originally born in Seoul, South Korea, at 4 years old her father had packed the family up and moved them to America due to his company expanding, even at such an early age Hyori knew she was not happy with this move.

She could distinctly remember calling her grandmother and aunts to ask if she could live with them, getting scolded whenever her mother would catch her doing so. There was only so much you could do at that age, but it was inevitable for Hyori to move with her family.

This move also caused years of confusion within Hyori of whether she was truly in tune with her culture when outside of her home country, sure her family exclusively spoke Korean at home, they ate traditional foods and of course kept the same traditions, but Hyori never truly felt at home in America.

Within her own home Hyori was an enigma, her brother Youngmin was the family pride and joy with his excellent grades and early promise to do great things in whatever career he went into and Seoyun was the baby who could do no wrong and Hyori? Well Hyori was the "problem", she listened but always had to state her opinion first, she did what was asked but never without muttering something under her breath, but you couldn't help but love the young girl because of her creativity, another promising child if she just applied herself, which is how her mother described it. Which is how Hyori ended up in her first ballet class at the age of five, the tutus and twirls were not for her at first but she fell in love with dance, just not the style being forced upon her.

Being held to a short leash your whole life can only make you remain disciplined for so long, and in Hyori's case it felt like their rebellious pre-teen years were amplified as soon as they hit their teens.

In their mind if they were doing everything, they were supposed to be doing academically then why could they not just do whatever they wanted in their free time. It was small things a first, talking back to their parents, being more argumentative when they felt they were in the right and then it spiraled to bigger things like cutting their hair and dying it on the night of their 15th birthday, getting tattoos and piercings after forging their parents signature, a menace in their teens but they were driven in one way or another.

However even with the arguments and fights, Hyori found solace in music, listening to it, playing it, and sometimes even writing it, though they would never tell their parents this was something they were passionate about, for fear of being told what they already knew "There is no money in music, you're wasting your potential."

Hyori had pushed all those conversations to the back of her mind, focused on applying to schools as far from her family as possible, especially in Korea. When she got the news, she had been accepted into Yonsei she was ecstatic, her family was happy for her, even if she did lie to them and say she had majored in something practical like Engineering and not her true area of study which was Music Composition.

However once the initial joy of their daughter getting into a prestigious university the logistics started to come into play, how were they expected to send their minor daughter to a country by herself and who was going to keep an eye on her, but Hyori had a plan, a plan that involved calling her aunt and promising to work for her part-time in exchange for housing. That satisfied her parents and two weeks after her graduation Hyori was on the plane to Incheon.

Though the move wasn't the easiest, Hyori found comfort in being with her aunt and grandmother, and she was within walking distance to both the cafe she was expected to work at that summer and the weekends when school started and the music store she would end up spending most if not all her small paycheck at.

Music was always a passion of Hyoris but she never explored it to seriously until she moved in with her aunt, recording a silly song she wrote when she was 15 and mad at her parents on her guitar and posting it to her SoundCloud, appropriately titled "Angry Song", but soon she was posting consistently on SoundCloud, finding that people actually liked her voice and the music she made, online and even at school, joining but a music and dance club in an attempt to make friends.

With her little cult following on SoundCloud, Hyori managed to produce, write, and compose music for smaller artist and kpop groups, still attending school and working to become a high marked student, and then it happened, Hyori received an invitation to audition for SM...via Instagram, surly a scam she thought so she simply blocked the account and left it at that, until SM reached out to her business email...oh they were serious.

Hyori truly didn't have a desire for the idol trainee life, maybe it was because of the toxic culture she was always forced to hear about, the weird relationship with the public or the debt you are put in without even the guarantee of debuting but none of it sounded pleasant to Hyori, even joking to some of her club members about the idea but they told her this was a once and a lifetime opportunity that she shouldn't just laugh off, so after two weeks of debating and being told to just go for it Hyori accepted the audition invitation and was shocked to hear she passed a month later...damn it.

The transition from college student to idol trainee was odd for Hyori, she was never formally trained in singing but within the first two months she was one of the top ranked trainees, of course she always aced dance, but she was fighting with two of her now members when it came to vocal analysis. However, Hyori knew she was not the most liked trainee, because she got in the same place as everyone else without "effort" or however the rumor went, but when she was approached by other trainees, she could manage to make friends with anyone.

Originally approached to debut in a duo with another trainee in 2020 the plans quickly fell through for the girls to actually make a new group, SM wanting to kick off the next generation of KPOP with a bang, nobody told Hyori they would be pre-debut for almost 4 years, but they did bond with their members and they wouldn't trade them for the world.

Hyori has him send her snacks she misses from living in the states whenever her mother sends her care packages, though he doesn't have the most freetime in the world he made sure to attend the debut showcase and whatever concerts he can, wanting to maintain a good relationship with his mini.

Aemin and Hyori didn't talk for six months when Hyori told her family she had joined an idol agency and might have to leave school, but they have been rebuilding their relationship over time, because at the end of the day the two have a unique way of understanding each other..and the care packages her mother demands to send are definitely a nice bonus, apology or not.

Youngmin is not into kpop but he will stream the latest B-Side albums if it means Hyori will let him study in peace, but don't ask him anything about the group because he knows virtually nothing, unlike his sisters.

Passionate and creative ━ Hyori is an artist, there is no arguing that, she has to have her hands in every little thing in order to feel it's perfect and her vision is achieved. Her passion drives her to constantly push boundaries, often staying up late to perfect whatever she is working on. Whether it's producing, composing, or performing, she puts her whole heart into her work, refusing to settle for anything less than what she imagines. Her creativity is both her fuel to work hard and her obsession to exceed every expectation.

Authentic heart of gold ━ They are one of the most genuine people they know, Hyori is someone you can go to with any and every issue you're having and they'll try their best to give you advice or simply just let you vent. Despite their bluntness at times they are very compassionate and care deeply for those they are close to. Their intentions with people are always pure for the most part even if they can come off as less than sometimes.

Charming and Confident ━ There's something undeniably hypnotic about her, she commands the attention of every room she's in without many words, and when she speaks it's almost siren like on how she can keep you hooked on every word shes saying. She doesn't hesitate to do anything, her confidence coming from being so sure of herself and this aura is even more apparent when she is on stage, people's eyes naturally gravitating to her during performances. She's just as confident off camera, from looks to her skills she rarely doubts what she is doing.

Introspective ━  Hyori is often caught up in their own thoughts, very self-aware of themselves, the world, and the people around them, maybe that's why they value their authenticity so much. When left alone with their thoughts Hyori's true artistry tends to shine, however this alone time can be a blessing and a curse, sometimes overanalyzing and hyperfixing on every little detail of their work. Though being so in tune with themself keeps them grounded it can also lead to a lot of internal conflict when they feel less than 100% about their work.

Independent ━ She is a cat, no better way to explain it than that and with that cat like quality comes an unbelievable urge to be independent, she is someone who truly values freedom and as much as she loves being in her friends space she also loves having time to relax and time to herself.

Adventure is their middle name ━ They love they explore, it's almost worrying the types of places they can end up, traveling, wandering around the streets, it doesn't matter Hoyri will discover something new to show off to their friends, even if it is a random bus station next to the convenient stores in Seoul. They're kind of like a cat. They follow their curiosity wherever it may lead, constantly seeking out the extraordinary in the ordinary. Their friends know that with Hyori around, there's never a dull moment and always something new to see or do.

Feelings? Ew. ━ Hyori is not an emotional person, sure she will always be here for her friends and people she cares deeply about but she struggles to let herself be emotionally vulnerable which leads to her being very guarded with how she feels in any capacity. With her emotionally guarded nature she tends not to seek help with her feelings and will let them fester until she finally breaks down in private, fun stuff really. 

Rebel Heart ━ They are not akin to following rules, held to a short leash as a child when they got away from it all they decided to live their life how they wanted to enjoy it, and even with being an idol now they refuse to let go of that freedom they have craved their whole life. To them, it's better to ask for forgiveness than permission, and while this philosophy often leaves their manager exhausted, they view late-night adventures as necessary moments of team bonding. Her rebellious spirit isn't about defiance, surprisingly it's about enjoying life to the fullest, finding joy in spontaneity, and creating memories with her group mates, no matter the consequences.

Sugarcoat?Nah ━ She prides herself on her authenticity, which can sometimes come off as "overly genuine" or simply blunt. She believes in speaking her mind, regardless of whether people ask for her opinions, she's just trying to help. This honesty can lead her to be a bit harsh or mean-spirited, even when she doesn't intend to be and sometimes she doesn't catch herself in time. While her friends appreciate her straightforwardness, they also know that her lack of a filter can catch them off guard and cause tension at times. Her candid nature stems from a desire to be real and genuine with those around her, even if it means ruffling a few feathers along the way, she doesn't mean it 99% of the time.

Musicality ━ Hyori just understands music, she gets how to make beats works, how to write a rap, how to effectively use her voice, she just gets music in a way that isn't just "Oh I like music" everything to her in music just makes sense and shes so willing to experiment with it because she wants to do something new everytime she walks into the studio or records a new sample track for group

Lover if Nothing Else ━ Hyori may seem unapproachable at times but they are a lover, when they care about people they tend to want to do whatever they can for them, sure they can spread themselves a bit thin but whatever they put their mind to will get done no matter what. When I say nobody loves B-side more than Hyori I mean that because they will do basically for their group mates to make them happy, they will defend them, care for them and most importantly always be there for them through everything.

Versatile and Adaptable ━ Hyori is someone who can easily adapt and change based on whatever concept the group is doing, though she has a powerful presence she is also able blend in with her group mates as time goes on and they perform together more

Quick Problem Solver ━ Hyori may think at a million miles per hours at time but they do know what they want to do an how they will achieve it for the most part, but only when trouble arises it seems, can't get down one of the steps in the choreography? They have a solution. That person you like is ignoring your existence? They have a plan to make them notice you. They can solve a problem when it's "silly" like that, but don't ask for serious help because they will be just as confused as you.

Emotionally Disgusted ━ Hyori and feelings simply do not mix, well specifically her feelings and explaining them to other people, she didn't really grow up in a feelings first or even feelings matter family and though she loves to help her friends with their problems her own are for her to deal with alone and she will get the ick if you try to help her, even if she needs it, it's very rare for her to let people in that close to her.

Lost ━ Hyori is so smart but also so dumb at the same time, they have solutions for strange things but if you're telling them something important you can just tell the lights aren't on upstairs, especially when their response to any question is jut "huh?"

Kind of a Jerk ━ Hyori knows she's a bit harsh at times but sometimes she comes off as just flat out rude, like she doesnt mean to be that way but also sugarcoating does no good in her opinion, sure she'll apologize if she hurt your feelings but she in fact means what she says 90% of the time.

Unsatisfied Perfectionist ━ Hyori cares a lot about their music and their visions for their music and with that comes plenty of sleepless nights where they cant get the notes right to convey the feelings they want for a song or the lyrics on the page just aren't coming to them like they usually do, and when Hyori is struggling that can sometimes lead to group stress, especially during recordings if they're frustrated, apology dinner on Hyori is usually mandatory on those days.

Spinning Pens/Pencils/Writing Material ━ Hyori always has to be moving her hands, but instead of tapping and clicking pens and whatnot on table she likes to spin them between her fingers and even learned how to do tricks

Fidgeting in General ━ Hyori does not believe in sitting still, they simply can't and will always find a way to move their body, cracking different body parts, bouncing up and down on their heels, bouncing their foot, they just can't handle being completely still for too long

Apologizing to Inanimate Objects ━ Hyori would like people to forget she does this but sometimes she lightly bumps into things like tables, couches, doorways, etc and shell just apologize to it, she doesn't know why or how she started it but it's a habit she can't seem to break

Zoning Out ━ Hyori doesn't have a staring problem but they understand where the idea comes from considering they can both make themself zone out along with doing it on accident, if nothing is happening around them, if they are by themself for a long period of time, or the room is crowded they'll simply zone out, theri record is 30 minutes uninterrupted and its kind of freaky to see, especially when you walk in on them just staring art a wall.

Journaling/Doodling ━ Hyori actually enjoys doing art, however she doesn't do serious art, she enjoys doodling on things like the corners of paper, the outer soles of her shoes, her arms, basically anything she can get her hands on, which is how she ended up getting a journal, now she writes things like lyrics, poems, music notes, basically anything

Playing With Jewelry ━ Hyori and their constant need to fidget, it's not funny at this point and you will never see them without jewelry on that they can play with, they prefer rings and necklaces to play with however, and when really down bad they'll play with their piercings or belt chains

Thrifting ━ Hyori has loved thirting ever since they lived in America, they love finding older "alt" styled clothes to add to their wardrobe or repurposing items that interest them, however they often donate their old clothes too since they would feel gross thrifting and never giving anything back giving they are not a "regular" person anymore but an upcoming popular idol, they particularly like to look for random decor and jewelry when they sincerity don't need any more clothes

Playing Rhythm/Phone Games ━ Hyori has had an addiction to rhythm games since she was a kid and gets caught playing them on her phone at lot, even on lives you can hear her playing them. She's good at a few, but don't ask her about SM Superstars, She lost her top spot ranking once and hasn't gotten completely over it. As for phone games you can catch her playing/talking about games like Genshin Impact but she absolutely refuses to spend money on it, not again.

Bracelet Making ━ Hyori is a lover of making cute little friendship bracelets for their friends and then "forcing" said friends to wear the bracelets and will make a comment if they see their friend without the bracelet, including their members because for the groups 1 year anniversary of being together (not debut) they made them all matching friendship bracelets, Hyori considers it the groups lucky charm, even putting specific charms on the bracelet for each member, once again nobody loves B-side more than Hyori loves B-side.

Playing Guitar ━ Hyori has been playing guitar since she was six years old, this is truly where her passion in music started and she is always trying to do something with her guitar, which is why she posts so many guitar covers on instagram, she owns 4 different guitars but two are back in her family home, one at her aunt's home but recently moved to the studio and the final one is her favorite one that stays in the dorms with her

Dancing/Making Choreography  ━ Hyori passion for dance started around the same time as their passion for guitar, its how they bonded with their mom and how they could express themselves from time to time, they love just moving their body and some days they will sit in the practice room for hours by themself. They usually don't do serious choreography work but they have an insane memory when it comes to dance which helps with the choreography making process

Cozy Gaming ━ Hyori surprisingly has hobbies outside of her work and it all has to do with the fact her close friend got her a switch two years ago, she loves playing games like stardew, animal crossing, pokemon, basically anything she can somewhat turn off her brain for, and this also led to a newfound addiction with genshin impact on her devices as well, however she only pulls for characters she thinks are pretty/support based

Scott Pilgrim Vs The World - This and Coyote ugly might genuinely be Hyori's comfort movies, all of her pets are named after Scott Pilgrim characters, she made her old band cover Black Sheep, it's just a good movie in her opinion, but the men who like this movie suck, as with most things

Drawing on her shoes/non canvas  - Hyori does not show off any form of art outside of her music but she does know how to hold a pen which is ½ the skill right there, whenever she is bored she likes to doodle on whatever, was the child to draw on walls and non paper until her parents nipped it in the butt

B-Side -  Nobody loves B-side more than Hyori and that is just a fact at this point, they genuinely just make her happy even if they play double dutch with her nerves some day, it's like having a bunch of extra siblings even if some did not completely get along at first, she wouldn't trade them for pretty much anything most days either

Playing support in games - Whenever playing a game Hyori will pick a healer no matter what, and depending on how she is treated during said game is also what institutes how she plays, she has gotten people to give her random movie quotes in order to get healing and sing songs when really low heath, were glad she doesn't want to play games often

Pretty people with ugly pets  - Have you ever been walking on the street and see this model like woman and next to her is a dog who is living out of spite, yeah that doesn't make sense to Hyori and because it doesn't make sense it annoys them,  like pets and owners are supposed to look alike, and she's sick of those ugly rat dog creatures

Following trends - Hyori means this specifically when speaking about music, she believes when you follow music trends all of your music starts to sound the same which kind of makes music boring in a sense, sure B-side is also a victim of following music trends but Hyori can still dislike something while doing her job

Being called her full name - This is a new one and we can blame Knowing Bros(Hodong) for this being found out, Hyori does not mind being called her full name when its funny like the pop icon tweet but she doesn't like just people she isn't close to her calling her it,  but would you go on the street calling some random celebrity you like their government name? No, that's weird.
